Sts. Anne & Joachim Council # 11930
Sts. Anne and Joachim KC Council meeting was held in the St. Joseph’s Room at the Parish on September 10, 2007. Mike Hardy called the meeting to order, led the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag & led the opening prayer. A motion by Tom Summerville was made to approve the August minutes and was seconded by Gordy Baumgartner. Motion carried.
Roll call of officers present: Mike Hardy, Shawn Tennyson, Gordy Baumgartner, Robert Bennett, Pete Peters, Michael Bannach, Ron Ward, Jim Herrington, Mike Linster, William Espe, and Fr. Katanga. Officers absent: Lee Mayer, Rich Olstad, and Jim Traynor.
District Deputy’s Report: District Deputy Tim McMullen was absent but provided Grand Knight Mike Hardy with the following points.
Remember the District officers’ meeting at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Cathedral. A guest speaker will be present. Two people are needed from September 26 through 3 November to participate in round-the-clock participation for the 40 Days for Life. Our council’s times will be announced.
Chaplain’s Report: Father Katanga read today’s Gospel, explaining how the cows followed their master.
Father Katanga was asking for ideas as to how we can get the people from St. Bakita’s Mass to be more involved within the parish.
Some suggestions: jointly share music, perhaps invite these families to the KC breakfast with complementary tickets. Item open. Also one large family is in need of a washer and dryer.
Treasurer’s Report – Gordy Baumgartner: Current Balance: Checking $4,059.92 Current Balance: Savings $17,308.18
Financial Secretary’s Report – Robert Bennet: Stamps and paper: $49.77; $19.87 football tickets; $16.42, Supreme, $157.75, Breakfast supplies $213.48, $195.87 for Family-of-the-Year social supplies including cakes & 8X10 pictures of Vetter family. $401.80 KC per capita and $271.85 postage. Motion by Mike Linster, second by Tom Summerville to pay bills as presented. Motion passed.
Scout Report: The Rising Star Award from the Boy Scout troop was presented to the council by Brian Krank and Jim Herrington.
Program Directors Report – Shawn Tennyson : Knight of the month: Anthony Suda. Motion was made by Mike Linster and seconded by Pete. Motion carried.
October 14th. breakfast: Jim Traynor and Mike Hardy.
Social Committee Report - Gordy Baumgartner: 34 tickets told for the tailgating. Ron Barstad to provide the grill, Mike Hardy will pick up the meal supplies including the KC flag to fly at the event.
Membership Committee - Pete Peters: Preparing for upcoming drives for membership: a special table will be set up after breakfasts. There is a possibility of using an easel with information about KC membership. Too, perhaps a pulpit talk on October th. if Father gives the clearance.
Membership committee will work on this.
Grand Knight’s Report – Mike Hardy: We’re in need of people for three programs: Free-throw contest in January, youth essay contest and substance abuse poster contest. Maybe Al Hintz, youth Director’s husband would be a possibility. Review of the budget was finalized as presented. Motion by Mike Linster and seconded by Tom Summerville to accept the budget. Motion approved.
Members delinquent on dues were reviewed, calls will be made to all 22 delinquent members will be made. Time and Talent sheets are upcoming and will provide additional new member leads.
G.K. read an E-mail about a Nativity car magnet “Keep Christ in Christmas” fund raising opportunity. A motion was made by Mike Linster to purchase 400. Motion was seconded by Pete Peters. Motion carried. Mike Hardy will order and magnets will be available for the October breakfast and beyond.
Good of the order: Tom is retiring. Welcome our new Priest Father Kadlec. Mike Bannach was winner of the drawing.

October 1: Monthly KC council meeting. Rosary at 6:00 p.m., meeting at 6:30 p.m., social to follow. Location: Sts A&J.
October 14: Breakfast and membership drive and pulpit talks
October 18: First degree at St. Mary’s. Time to be announced.
November 5: Monthly KC council meeting. Rosary at 6:00 p.m., meeting at 6:30 p.m., social to follow. Location Sts. A&J.
Card Requests & Special Intentions: Congrats to Tom Summerville on his upcoming retirement. John Fritz, Ryan Mayer, & Troops in Iraq. Also Ella Bulat, wife of Brother Steve Bulat.

Members are encouraged to submit their council activity service form, which documents the hours spent doing charitable activities or they can be submitted through the “Service Form” link listed on the council website.
Next meeting will be on Monday October 1, 2007 at 6:30pm in the upstairs St. Joseph’s Room. Rosary begins at 6:00 pm prior to the meeting. Social Activities; card games, pool, visiting, and refreshments will follow the meeting (7:30pm).
