Sts. Anne & Joachim Council # 11930

Sts. Anne and Joachim KC Council meeting was held in the St. Joseph’s Room at the Parish on October 1, 2007.  Shawn Tennyson called the meeting to order, led the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag & led the opening prayer. A motion by Gordy Baumgartner was made to approve the September minutes and was seconded by Robert Bennett.  Motion carried.

Roll call of officers present:  Shawn Tennyson, Gordy Baumgartner, Robert Bennett, Pete Peters, Lee Mayer, Ron Ward, and Fr. Katanga.  Officers absent: Mike Hardy, Mike Linster, William Espe, Rich Olstad, Michael Bannach, Jim Herrington, and Jim Traynor.

District Deputy’s Report:  Tim McMullen - 1st Degree changed from October 18th at St Anthony’s to October 28th 1st 2nd & 3rd Degree Exemplification at the McMarty’s Center. 1st Degree at Noon, 2nd & 3rd Degree to follow. Knights are needed for 40 Days for Life from 10pm to 6am. Regional Free Throw Contest dates are Feb 9th from 11am – 2pm @ Cardinal Meunch. Backup date in case of inclement weather is Feb 16th. Next 1st 2nd & 3rd Degree Exemplification is April 13th at Cardinal Meunch - 1st Degree at Noon with 2nd and 3rd degree to follow. Fargo needs Knights for the degree team – parts must be memorized. Suggested attendance at the Oct 28th Exemplification to see if you are interested.

Chaplain’s Report: Father Katanga - nothing to report

Treasurer’s Report – Gordy Baumgartner:  Current Balance: Checking $4,477.10 Current Balance: Savings $17,308.18
- Reminder after breakfasts and magnet sales to double check the money counts for accuracy. 

Financial Secretary’s Report – Robert Bennet:  Magnet’s for Keep Christ in Christmas - $540, Tailgating - $19.98, Breakfast supplies - $559.98

Trustee: Lee Mayer: We’re going to need 10 guys to help clean the kitchen. Lee will contact the appropriate people for date and time.

Membership Committee – Ron Ward reported from the district meeting notes about proposer forms and rewards. Asking for 10 members quota but 5 is the challenge. We are the lowest per capita in the state at 15% members within the parish. October 14th membership weekend – pulpit talk at the end of masses. New comers weekend after the 11am mass. Table in the gathering space with displays & membership committee answering questions and recruiting new members. October 28th is the new date for the Exemplification. Time and place in the DD’s report.

Youth – Greg McCormick has agreed to be the chairman. Also Gordy would be the backup in case Mr. Al Hintz, our Youth Director’s husband, will not.

Social Committee Report - Gordy Baumgartner: Tailgating went well. Winner of the drawing was District Deputy Tim McMullen

Newsletter & website – Anthony Suda: Articles needed by October 25th. Website review/proofs at the next meeting.

Program Directors Report – Shawn Tennyson:  Knight of the month: Corey Jones. Motion carried.
October 14th. breakfast:  Jim Traynor and Bill Espe.

Grand Knight’s Report – Roster for 40 Day’s time slots passed around.
Old Business: Magnets sold at our recent breakfast totaled 73. Future sales after breakfasts and maybe Shanley basketball games. Proceeds possibly going towards another seminarian fund – discussion at future meetings.
New Business: Reminder about spaghetti dinner for Gobby Hersh. See bulletin at St Anthony’s to keep her in Catholic schools. Consideration to earmark a portion of net income for relief for our own KC members and families in times of crisis.

November 5: Monthly KC council meeting.  Rosary at 6:00 p.m., meeting at 6:30 p.m., social to follow. Location Sts. A&J.
November 18: KC Breakfast

Card Requests & Special Intentions:  Remember our troops in Iraq. Also Mrs. Ward.

Next meeting will be on Monday November 5, 2007 at 6:30pm in the upstairs St. Joseph’s Room. Rosary begins at 6:00 pm prior to the meeting.  Social Activities; card games, pool, visiting, and refreshments will follow the meeting (7:30pm).
